Katana Abbott, Founder
Katana left her $100 million investment management and financial planning practice to become the founder and vision coach of Smart Women’s Coaching®. Rising from a life of poverty and adversity to one of abundance, Katana spent 20 years as a senior financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial. In 2003, Katana created Smart Women’s Coaching to offer educational workshops for women in transition after job loss, divorce, becoming a caregiver, as well as those planning for retirement or looking to create or grow a business. In January 2007, she retired at the age of 48 financially independent and looking to focus 100% of her time, energy and resources on this dream. She and her long time friend and Smart Women’s Coaching Contributing Expert, Jill Jordan, invited individuals from around the country to join them in creating a national network of experts who could teach women how to reinvent their lives, attain powerful new financial skills, grow wealth and start or grow new businesses through an annual series of events, courses and online social networking support. Smart Women’s Coaching recently announced a powerful new resource for women—Smart Women’s Café™. Here women around the world can connect, learn, network, brainstorm, develop professionally and personally, and make a remarkable difference in their communities. Katana’s nonprofit initiative, The Smart Women’s Empowerment Program, helps financially disadvantaged women in transition develop confidence, financial security and profession success through grants and scholarship that provide assistance with ongoing coaching, mentoring and training programs.
